Deck of Card[igan]s

Cardigans are a staple clothing item that can be worn year round. The nice thing is they can dress up or complete an outfit. You can wear a plain white tank with a fabulous cardigan and be perfectly put together. Cardigans range from cottons to wools. The heavier ones are great for winter, and during the late spring and summer, most of the companies make sheer or cotton cardigans. What's nice is that these can also keep you dress-code compliant at your office. Most of us don't work at places that allow you to walk around in a tank top during the hotter months, but just throw a light cardigan over the tank and you're all set. I searched out a bunch of fabulous cardigans for spring! The grey and navy striped one is from Forever21. I'm actually wearing it as we speak. It's a cotton jersey, so it's very light...as well as very light on the wallet at $17.80! The red ruffled one is fantastic for a night out. It's very couture and dressy. This is a statement cardigan. It's 3.1 Philip Lim, so expect a hefty price tag! The black wrap cardigan is button-less and something all of you ladies should have in your closet. It's BCBG's "Signature Cardi-Wrap." I've worn mine too many times to count. You can wear it with jeans, flip-flops, and a tank, or wear it with your favorite LBD ("little black dress"). The Haute Hippie grey chunky cardigan is one I crave. It's 2nd only to getting to wear a blanket around. The slouchy look of it allows a laid-back thrown-together vibe, while still looking fashionable (hence: a "haute hippie"). This one is an investment piece, since you'll be wearing it for years. When we want basic, we go Old Navy. Old Navy actually has a lot of cute & practical sweaters this season. I find that some seasons Old Navy's stuff is not so cute, but with sweaters and cardis this year, they really did well. The turquoise sweater is one of their basic cardigans this season with a little ruffle detailing on the collar. I love that! It gives just enough girly feel to it. This comes in a bunch of colors for around $20, so stock up! Banana Republic is another place that always has good staple cardigans. This cream colored one is great with a dress or with jeans as well. It comes in a the standard colors of black & grey as well. It's always good to have at least one long cardigan in your closet. For a cardigan with a twist (literally!), I'm loving this DKNY "Infinity" Cardigan. I love the versatility of it, as well as how cool and effortless it looks on. The draping on the front is super stylish. The scarf allows for multiple styling options (though I favor the option in the photo). And we always love Juicy Couture, right? I think yellow is such a fun spring color. There are so many shades of yellow out there, that it's a color almost everyone can wear now. This cute white & yellow striped hoodie-cardigan, just screams SPRING. It'll definitely spice up any casual outfit. Perfect for a beach day :) Light & breezy. Last, but definitely not least, another great basic from Forever21. Purple is another great color for early spring. I'd go light for spring/summer, but you can still wear this deep purple color right now. This cardigan is great because of the shorter sleeves. It allows for lots of accessorizing (think: bracelets or a watch). F21 always has great (and cheap!) basics. Ones that you don't really care if they only last 1 season, because you only spent $15 on it. And that my loyal fashionistas is enough cardigans to last you at least until fall (wink, wink). If you are having a blah fashion day, just throw on a fun & bright cardi!

P.S. Feel free to post links in the comment section of your fav cardigans that you are loving wearing right now!
